About:
I spent my entire career in the non-profit sector both overseas and in Maine. For 26 years, I worked for New Ventures, Maine helping entrepreneurs to set up and expand their businesses. Many of my entrepreneurs were artisans who appreciated the business tools we offered so they could strengthen the viability of their enterprises. I love bringing those business skills to the work I do as an artisan. Now that I am retired, I am fully involved in many aspects of my community, and love spending as much time as I can working on my quilts. It is always a joy to have the opportunity to share my creations with the public.
Artist Statement:
I am a self-taught quilter, and started in 1986 with a simple log cabin design. Over the years, I have expanded my quilting style and fabric items. I love color and design and am immediately drawn to bold patterns. Recently, I have been experimenting with designs created by Frank Lloyd Wright, and have worked to translate those images into wall hanging quilts. Besides quilts, I have experimented with other forms for the fabrics that bring me such joy. Laptop totes, cloth bowls, balsam and lavender sachets, and cloth envelopes are some of the items in my repertoire.
I am a member of the Kaleidescope Chapter of the Pine Tree Quilters Guild and the Bowdoinham Guild of Artisans. These collaborative groups of artisans take me to new levels of expertise. The support and energy in these groups is of vital importance to my work.
